Hesitation and backfiring can be caused by carburetter issues. This SU carb rebuild is relatively simple. Complete rebuild kits are readily available at a reasonable price. Due to varnish this specific carb was running lean prior to rebuilding. A routine cleaning, new gaskets, new jet, and throttle plates corrected the condition. Once set up and adjusted on the car, it was running smooth and performing as it should with no backfiring or hesitation.
